We undertake independent strategic research and seek to inform forestry policy development and decision-making. We lead an independent think-tank Forestry Horizons. The written outputs of all original research and consultancies performed by Sylva staff are published on the website and freely available. During 2010 we have been developing a new 'citizen science' project: TreeWatch. The concept is that we keep a watchful eye on the state of health of trees with the help of volunteers. TreeWatch was launched as a pilot in July 2010. |

Forestry Horizons

Through our Forestry Horizons independent think-tank we aim to support sustainable forest management by undertaking strategic and applied research. Forestry Horizons has become very active as our independent perspective becomes valued. Commissioned research reports have been produced for public and private bodies, in the UK and beyond. Papers and articles have been published in the forestry press and presentations given to various stakeholders in the UK and beyond. Forestry Horizons is linked with the Global Forest Information Service. Some of our recent work:
