To celebrate the start of our Woodworking and Gender Project we are excited to offer a £3,000 bursary to join our Professional Course.
Are you a practical person attracted to learning new skills and experiences in working with wood? Perhaps you have some previous woodworking experience and wish to learn professional practice skills whilst building confidence and speed. Maybe you wish to combine your creative skills with a deeper understanding of craft and seek a more tangible and mindful experience.
We believe our Professional Course was designed specifically for your needs. Not only does our course offer a unique opportunity for students at unbeatable value, but we are now able to offer a bursary to support applications specifically aimed at female and non-binary makers.
Sylva Foundation and The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust are very pleased to announce a collaboration to provide a bursary for the Wood School’s six-month professional course.
A single bursary of £3000 will be made available for applicants to the 24/25 course – representing a 45% discount of the full fee of £6,495.
To qualify for a bursary, you must:
- Be able to demonstrate some previous woodworking experience
- Demonstrate an enthusiasm for learning and ambition to progress into employment
- Identify as female or non-binary
- Be able to join the six-month course running from 23rd September 2024 – 2nd April 2025
We want to use the fund to make the biggest impact and we are particularly keen to support those who are unlikely to afford to attend the course without financial support.
We have a simple application process. To apply click here.
We expect this will be a competitive process. The final decision will be made by a panel including the Head of Wood School and CEO Sylva Foundation.
- The deadline for applications is Monday 26th August 2024
- Bursary applications will be shortlisted by Friday 30th August 2024
