Sylva Wood School and Wood Centre are taking part in Oxfordshire Artweeks again this year. On Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May 2026, from 10am-5pm, we invite you to an inspiring weekend dedicated to home-grown timber, the excellence of wood craft, and the flourishing community that brings this natural material to life.
The Wood School will be showcasing our work inspiring excellence in craft, design and education using home-grown timber. Meet expert tutors, explore courses, get a sneak peek into an exciting new collaboration, and hear about our work to bridge the gender gap in woodworking.
Our community of wood-based craftspeople and businesses will be opening their workshops allowing you to meet the meet the makers and discover sustainable and beautiful furniture, bespoke cabinetry, and contemporary design objects.
Explore the Future Forest, a growing young woodland where we are testing a wide range of tree species to build resilience against climate change and disease, whilst providing public enjoyment and homes for wildlife.
View the Anglo-Saxon reconstructed House of Wessex to explore its unique timber structure and ancient heritage of working with wood. We are delighted that once again the Wulfheodenas Anglo Saxon living history group will be bring the House of Wessex to life.
Parking is free, dogs on leads are welcome and there will be a pop-up cafe with a range of delicious home-made cakes.
