Congratulations to our Wood School Senior Tutor Phil Gullam on receiving the Master Certificate from The Furniture Makers Company!
Phil was recognised for his contribution and achievements to the industry at a special ceremony in the City of London as part of the Master Certificate Scheme Ceremony 2025. The Master Certificate Scheme, launched in 2001 and run by City of London livery companies in partnership with City & Guilds, aims to recognise excellence and promote career progression from Apprentice to Journeyman and Master level.

Phil has been involved in teaching and assessing qualifications for wood occupations for more than 15 years, following a successful career as a maker. Before joining Sylva in 2022 to support teaching at our Wood School he taught at Rycotewood Furniture Centre for a number of years. Phil teaches on our Professional Course as well as a number of our shorter courses run throughout the year. All the details of courses at Sylva Wood School are on our new website.
