Sylva Foundation

A valuable resource for understanding the biodiversity of your local woodland or Forest School site. The mapping tool enables you to identify species that may be present in your wood. The website also provides survey forms for assessing the general condition of a woodland. 

OneOak

Sylva Foundation

Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stages 1 - 5 and adults

The Sylva Foundation is a national charity running programmes under the themes of science, education, forestry and wood. OneOak is a unique cross curricular resource that brings to life sustainable woodland management. OneOak was Sylva's flagship education project and followed the life story of one oak tree from its felling, through to processing and then transformation into 50 wood based products and finally the planting of a new oak woodland.

Tree Health Survey

OPAL

The OPAL resources, including their Tree Health Survey, enable Forest School leaders and other outdoor educators to survey the health of their own trees and identify common pests and diseases. Results can then be entered into the OPAL database, contributing to nationwide knowledge of the distribution of important tree health threats.
