Shems first joined Sylva Foundation in April 2021 as a volunteer and since March 2022 has worked as a part-time Communications Advisor. With a background in human rights, Shems has worked for over 25 years in the voluntary sector for both national and international charities, including the NSPCC and True Patriot Love Foundation in Canada, and she is experienced in fundraising, charity governance and communications.
