We’re delighted to announce the appointment of our first Education Manager. Following the generous support of the Patsy Wood Trust we have appointed Jen Hurst to lead in the development of our education work.
Jen has been collaborating with Sylva for some time as an Associate, and indeed, helped to develop a strategy for our education work which was approved by trustees last year. With the support of the Patsy Wood Trust, Jen will be delivering two specific projects. We will be repurposing a rich archive of materials from the OneOak project to create a suite of teaching materials targeted at schools. Another major output will be support for Forest School Leaders in managing their sites, linked to technology provided by the myForest service.
Talking of her appointment Jen said: “The Patsy Wood Trust has given Sylva an exciting opportunity to bring the education and forestry sectors together through two innovative projects. I am really looking forward to working with teachers and Forest School Leaders to support and sustain their work in forests and classrooms across the country.“
