Eighty special edition prints from the award-winning book The New Sylva are to be auctioned to raise money for charity.
The Sylva Foundation supported the production of the book, written in a personal capacity by our Chief Executive Gabriel Hemery, by appointing Sarah Simblet as its artist-in-residence for two years (2012-14). Given our special relationship with the artist, we are delighted to announce that we will be auctioning special edition prints of Sarah’s stunning tree portraits, botanical details and woodland scenes via an online auction site.
- The giclee prints will be produced by a specialist fine art printmaker on 330gsm Ilford Galerie Gold smooth cotton paper with light-fast inks.
- Printing has been calibrated personally by the artist to ensure the finest quality reproduction.
- Each print will be hand-signed by Sarah Simblet, and accompanied by an attractive Certificate of Authenticity, hand-signed by both authors of The New Sylva and embossed with a unique identifying seal.
- The prints will be supplied unmounted and rolled in a large diameter tube, allowing the winning bidder to mount and frame to suit the final placement of the artwork.
This is a unique opportunity to own a high quality print of Sarah Simblet’s work, as the artist rarely sells her work as prints, and a high level of interest is expected. All proceeds from sales will support the charitable work of the Sylva Foundation.
If you are interested in being among the first to know when the auction goes live, you can add your email to a list being compiled by the Sylva Foundation. The auction was first announced in February as we had hoped to launch the auction in the Spring (if you have already provided your email there is no need to do so again). The auction will go live in a few weeks time and remain open during the summer months.
