Over the last couple of weeks we’ve held two successful courses at the Sylva Wood Centre. Places are still available on other courses this spring but hurry to avoid disappointment.
A one-day workshop for woodcarving newcomers and those with some experience who would like to develop their skills. Students will learn how to mark out and carve a simplified design of vine leaves and grapes in lime wood.
In this new one-day course learn how to perform guitar ‘set-ups’ so that your guitar sounds and plays at its best. The course is run with expert tuition by local luthier Steve Kendall. All types of guitar catered for: acoustic, electric, and bass.
In September there will be an archaeological excavation at the Sylva Wood Centre. This is your chance to get involved! Either just come along to one of our Open Days, and/or volunteer to join the archaeologists during the two-week excavation from 11-22 September (excluding Monday 18th). You can join the team and help dig, or identify, sort and clean finds.

Working with green wood using simple hand tools, by the end of the day you will make a ‘basic’ three-legged stool under the expert tuition of green woodworker Peter Wood.
