In a joint venture with the Sylva Foundation, gardens and arboreta across the UK and Ireland will be celebrating the 350th anniversary of the publication in 1664 of John Evelyn’s classic book Sylva.
The New Sylva book, sponsored by the Sylva Foundation and to be published by Bloomsbury Publishing, has been listed. Earlier this week the cover design was revealed on the author’s blog (read more).

The authors have been searching for a few elusive botanical specimens to illustrate for The New Sylva. Last week they visited one of the best locations for any tree hunter: Britain’s national arboretum at Westonbirt, in Gloucestershire, which features some 2,500 different tree species.
